What are the rules?

A formally constituted women’s forum has the following rights, which are very similar to the rights of a branch:

  • election of two delegates to General Committee and LGC
  • nominating individuals as constituency officers
  • sending a nomination to the constituency during selection of candidates and representatives

In order to exercise its formal rights, a meeting of the women’s forum must be notified to all women members of the constituency 14 days in advance, and a quorum of 10 women must be present. You must hold a formal meeting at least once a year.

However you don’t need to hold formal meetings each time you meet. Informal meetings are easier to organise and can be more flexible, giving you the opportunity to involve women who have certain interests in the activities they want to get involved in.
