We need to rebuild our financial system - Gordon Brown

Gordon BrownLabour’s Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has called for a rebuilding of the financial system to build a stronger and fairer future for Britain.

Speaking at the Labour Party’s National Policy Forum, the Prime Minister outlined plans including looking at how to create an investment bank than can fund science and technology and whether to create a publically owned savings bank.

Gordon Brown will meet with US President Barack Obama on Tuesday to discuss cooperation in injecting money into the US and UK economies, maximising the impact of that money and building green industries for the future.

Labour’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown, speaking at the Labour Party’s National Policy Forum, said:

"Our task must be nothing less than to rebuild a financial system where it has failed and then to create an economy where banks are no longer serving themselves but serving the public of this country

"The values we are brought up with and live by in our family, social and working lives are also the values that should and must guide not just some of our economy but all of our economy with no opt out, no waiver, no free pass for any banks in any country".
