Better health for all

When we came to office, Labour promised to reverse a long-term legacy of under-investment. Today, with investment doubled, waiting times falling, seven new hospitals built or on the way and prescriptions soon to be free for all, pride in our NHS has been restored.

As part of our aim of a healthier Wales for all, Labour will:

Continue to provide all NHS prescriptions free of charge

Ensure all children have an opportunity to use a sports or leisure facility or swimming pool free of charge at weekends

Improve the quality of food in schools, hospitals and other public premises, and provide increased investment in our school kitchens

Ensure that all people who want one can have access to an NHS Dentist

Provide free parking at NHS hospitals for patients requiring treatment for Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Renal Dialysis; and season ticket arrangements for those who want one

Further reform charging for home care services, making 10,000 disabled people better off and exempting 4000 disabled persons from all charges
