A fair Wales

Social justice and fairness have always been guiding principles for Labour. Our commitment is the eradication of child poverty in Wales by 2020. We will continue to guarantee funding for the poorest communities and build towards a brighter future for all of our citizens.

In promoting a fairer Wales, Labour will:

Continue funding for the regeneration of the most deprived communities in Wales through a Communities Next programme

Provide free childcare for two year olds in our most disadvantaged communities

Provide £450 million investment in new social housing over the next Assembly term, making land available for affordable housing

Increase investment in door-to-door community transport, so that everyone, including the elderly and the disabled, can enjoy greater freedom.

Encourage saving amongst young people by ensuring access to a Credit Union for every secondary school

New funding for the University of the Third Age

Improve the take-up of Council Tax Benefit amongst older people

Provide free entry to Assembly Funded Welsh Heritage Sites for pensioners and families with children
