Vernon Coaker welcomes G8 announcement

Vernon Coaker MP Labour’s Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, speaking after the announcement that Northern Ireland will host the G8 summit next year, said:

“This is great news and a fantastic opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland on the world stage. 

“On the back of the First and deputy First Minister’s trade mission to China last week, this is further evidence that Northern Ireland is open for business and ready to do business. 

“I hope this news will help encourage tourism and investment, particularly west of the Bann in beautiful county Fermanagh. 

“I know that all political parties here at Westminster and in Northern Ireland will welcome the visit of world leaders for this hugely important event.”
