Stephen Timms MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Minister, responding to warnings that 420,000 disabled people could be affected by the bedroom tax, said:
“David Cameron needs to get a grip on this unfair bedroom tax which will hit hundreds of thousands of disabled people. The Government’s own figures show that almost two thirds of the people affected are disabled.
“The bedroom tax is a policy that is unworkable and unfair. And it’s shocking that it will be introduced in the same month David Cameron is cutting taxes for millionaires by almost £100,000.
“We need an economy that works for working people and this out of touch Government simply can’t deliver.”
