Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, commenting after Tory MEPs vote with UKIP and the BNP, against UK Government climate change policy, said:
"After George Osborne watered down the Government's commitments on cutting carbon emissions, now Tory MEPs have shown just how extreme and out of touch the Tory Party remains. David Cameron has failed to take on powerful vested interests such as the energy giants; and now he is failing to even take on the climate change deniers in his own ranks. Every week, the Tories' green credentials look more hollow. How can David Cameron show leadership on the world stage when his own party is voting with extremists in the European Parliament?"
