Celebrating the future of sport with Labour

Last year’s sports celebration dinner at Wembley Stadium was the most successful fundraiser in Labour’s history. We raised a fantastic amount of money that continues to make a big difference up and down the country. The live auction was at the heart of this success with so many people playing their part by bidding for the unique lots on offer.

On Thursday July 10, to help raise funds for Labour’s campaign to fight and win the next General Election, we are having a second sports celebration dinner at Wembley. And, we’re offering you the chance to bid for many exclusive items.

We’ve a fantastic array of amazing items on offer. This is a great opportunity for you to not only have a look at the items, but for the very first time, to have the chance to bid in advance.

Antony Gormley - ‘Feeling Material Again IV’
Antony Gormley work of art
Winner of the Turner prize in 1994. Antony Gormley is best known for his controversial sculpture ‘Angel of the North’ which dominates the skyline in Gateshead. Rarely out of the arts pages, Antony Gormley has become one of the world’s most celebrated sculptors and a household name.

Gormley is always concerned with the relationship between body and space and the relocation of subject from the body as object to the field of energy it might produce: clearly evidenced in this work which is marked ‘for Labour’ on the reverse.

This is a unique opportunity to own a specially commissioned work of art for Labour’s sports Tony Blaircelebration evening.

A tennis match with Tony Blair

This is a fantastic one-off opportunity for a game of tennis with former Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

A true sporting hero, Joe Calzaghe is the undefeated Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight champion of the world. Rated as one of the world’s best pound for pound boxers,Joe Calzaghe Joe’s achievements have been recognised both in and out of the ring. And in 2007, the British people showed their affection by voting him the BBC sports personality of the year. Joe recently wowed fans in the United States and around the globe by defeating Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas, a fight that proved to all his incredible talent and amazing durability in one of the world’s toughest sports. This item includes gloves signed by Joe and two VIP tickets for his next fight. And, with former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott expected at the dinner the gloves could come in very handy!

Swim with Little Britain star, David Walliams

David WalliamsDavid Walliams, comedian and actor, is best known for being one half of the successful duo behind the Little Britain series.

However, David has also successfully done a number of gruelling charity swims. He swam the English Channel raising over £1m for Sport Relief.

More recently, he swam the 12 mile Strait of Gibraltar, from Spain to Morocco, again for Sport Relief. We expect lots of interest in this item which is 'relatively kerfuffle free' and we know that plenty of swimming Little Britain fans will say: 'I want that one.' This amazing item does not require you to swim in the cold sea of the Channel dodging ships. Instead it will be a pool!

Aston Martin race day experience

Aston MartinIn 2007 Paul Drayson and his team-mate Jonny Cocker made history in this unique Aston Martin DBRS9 race car by becoming the first drivers to win a major championship race in a car run on bio-ethanol fuel. This year, Paul and Jonny are competing in the American Le Mans Series again running on bio-ethanol manufactured from wood waste (debris, brush, dead trees from forests and not the trees themselves). By using waste wood to create this clean-burning renewable fuel, it has the lowest carbon footprint of any comparable energy source and avoids the ‘fuel vs food problem’ of first generation bio-ethanol.

Now you can spend a day with Paul Drayson and his race team at a famous British race circuit experiencing rides on track in the 550 bhp 007 Aston Martin DBRS9 race car at full race speed – with hospitality and a video memento of the day. Excitement guaranteed.

Day in the studio with Pete Waterman

Pete WatermanThis is a rare opportunity to spend a day with Pete Waterman in his recording studios and come out with your very own CD. Pete Waterman is one of Britain’s most successful pop music producers.
