GCSE figures show school attainment gap between those of different backgrounds is still too high - Twigg

9 February 2012

Stephen TwiggStephen Twigg MP, Labour's Shadow Education Secretary, responding to the publication of GCSE attainment figures today said:

"These figures show that the school attainment gap between those of different backgrounds is still too high. However, since 2006, with the last Labour Government, the gap between girls and boys has narrowed, the gap between black pupils and the national average has narrowed as has the gap for those from more deprived backgrounds. There is still much to do, but the Government needs to ensure that the efforts Labour made to narrow the attainment gap continue."
