schoolsportDavid Cameron and his Tory-led Government are damaging sport in schools.

By scrapping the requirement for children to do at least two hours of PE a week and abolishing the School Sports Partnerships which allowed primary schools access to coaches, staff and facilities to do competitive sport, they're wasting the once in a generation opportunity of the Olympics.

Education Secretary Michael Gove failed to admit the true number of school playing fields sold off since this Government took office, and overruled advice from his own independent experts to force through the sale of school playing fields.

Now they're planning to allow further reductions in the amount of outdoor space each school must provide, meaning less space for children to do PE and play outside.

Labour wants to take the Olympic legacy seriously, not waste it. We will be calling a vote in Parliament in September to demand that the Government change their plans and protect school playing fields.
