"A strong and stable economy has been a staple of ten years with a Labour Government and it will continue to be so with the measures unveiled by the Chancellor today.
"Labour’s strong economy has enabled us to invest more in our schools and hospitals, put more police on the street, and keep mortgages and inflation low.
"It’s these things that really matter to hard-working families across Britain. And the measures announced in today’s budget build on this.
"In my constituency alone more than 10,000 families will receive a boost in Child Benefit to £20 a week, and a rise of £50 a year in Child Tax Credit.
"In a traditionally low-wage area like Dumfries and Galloway this will make a massive difference."
