Chris Bryant MP, Labour’s Shadow Immigration Minister, commenting on Raed Salah’s deportation appeal, said:
"This is yet another example of the Home Secretary's hapless and incompetent management of our border security last summer. This is sheer incompetence on top of mere carelessness.
"First Theresa May tried to ban someone she judged should not be in the UK and failed. Then the UKBA allowed him to walk through the Heathrow even though he was on a watch list of people who should be stopped. Then she promised to deport him and we now know she has failed to do that too. The Home Secretary needs to explain to the public and to Parliament what has happened in this case and why it has been such a farce.
"Last summer the Home Secretary opened up our borders. The gap between the Government's rhetoric on immigration and the reality at our border is now shockingly wide."
