About Hattie Ajderian

Hattie lives in Temple Cloud, near Bath, with husband Nick and their three children, Sam, Jenni and Daisy. Sam’s at University and Jenni and Daisy go to Chew Valley School. Nick and Hattie run a small software business.

Since leaving university in 1979, Hattie has had a variety of jobs including running a sandwich delivery business, being head cook at a country house hotel and working in the Development Office at her old college (St Hilda’s, Oxford). She is now employed by Bath & N E Somerset as Senior Youth Support Worker with YouthBank (a part of the Youth Democracy Project).

    Local Life

When the children were small Hattie became involved with the local toddler group, then the PTA. She has been a Governor at Cameley Primary School for 8 years and was Chair of Governors for 4 years. Community work has also included being a member of the Village Hall committee and the Parish Council. Currently she is involved with Bath Open Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

    Political Life

A Labour Party member for the past 13 years, Hattie was Secretary of Bath & N E Somerset Labour party for three years. From 2003-7 she was a Bath & N E Somerset councillor. During that time she was Secretary of the Labour Group and then Deputy Leader. She worked on the Licensing Committee. In 2005 she stood as Parliamentary candidate for Bath.

    Hobbies and Interests

Cooking remains a first love with Hattie, with gardening coming up close behind – especially now she has a polytunnel. She enjoys both cinema and live theatre. Walking and reading are other relaxations.
