Labour's policy commissions
The Labour Party has six policy commissions which draw up policy reports for discussion by the Joint Policy Committee (JPC) and the National Policy Forum (NPF). They meet several times a year they consider policy submissions from all sections of the party and have a responsibility to ensure engagement on topical issues as well as building and maintaining year-round dialogue between the party and government. Policy commissions are also responsible for considering the contemporary issues prioritised by Annual Conference for detailed deliberation throughout the year.
Made up of members representing the Government, the NEC and the NPF, the six commissions are:
• Britain in the World
• Creating Sustainable Communities
• Crime, Justice, Citizenship and Equalities
• Education and Skills
• Health
• Prosperity and Work
You can read more about the work of a particular commission by visiting their individual page (click on a commission name above).
The commissions are responsible for drawing up policy reports for discussion by the NPF and JPC and every year they are required to report back on their discussions in their Annual Reports to Conference. Party members can find a copy of the latest documents here.
