PM launches YouTube channel

Gordon Brown has appeared in an exclusive Labour:vision video to launch a new YouTube channel on British politics.

YouTube has brought together the main UK political parties in one channel, including Labour:vision – the most-watched channel of all the main parties.

Since Labour:vision was launched last year, the channel has been viewed more than 140,000 times and played well over 400,000 videos.

The Prime Minister said: “We need to find new ways of engaging people, from every background.

“We need to adapt to new technology and the new ways people communicate. This new YouTube channel gives a new generation the chance to have your voice heard.”

Commenting on the launch of the UK Politics Channel, Steve Grove, YouTube News and Politics Editor, said:

"YouTube Politics empowers, educates and connects voters and politicians in a way that was not possible before the emergence of online video.

“With the UK politics channel, everyday people can express their views, ask questions and be heard, while those in office can gain visibility for their message and showcase their personality.

"We are delighted to see that these UK parties are on YouTube and eagerly anticipate the direct dialogue around British politics."

I think its time the government did something about the amount of MURDERS we hear about EVERY DAY. Our prisons are full due to the fact they are no longer seen as a deterant. This country has been screaming out for LAW AND ORDER for years, but what do we get, nothing that makes any difference. Now we have children murdering children.I know lets talk about TAX CUTS instead then maybe everything else will fix itself.

I think its good that you can comment on everything. And if you can actually look at the amount of comments on the video it's quite alot (86 in fact)

Think it's a great innovative concept with the Prime Minister on You Tube. Perhaps all MPs should join him as it would make for a livelier debate and reach out to those who don't bother with headline news or newspapers.

Congratulations to my PM for one more innovation! I absolutely agree that mainstream parties shall face to the future and take more profit of IT and communication tools, engaging what members are expecting. Last term of Mr Blair and now with Mr Brown has shown that the party is really involved in that commitment. Lets support Labour:vision and this new YouTube channel on Brit politics.
