George Osborne has admitted he has broken promises and cut NHS spending in his first year - Ed Balls

29 July 2011

Ed BallsEd Balls MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor,
has written to George Osborne MP over his claims this morning on health spending.

Ed Balls said:

"George Osborne has admitted what David Cameron has always previously denied - he has cut NHS spending in his very first year in office, breaking his pre-election promises and the Coalition Agreement. And he can't blame Labour - the plans in our last Budget in March 2010 clearly show NHS spending rising in the 2010-11 financial year in real terms. George Osborne's £766 million NHS cut is the first real terms cut in NHS spending since the Tories were last in office in 1996/97."
