Only an out of touch Tory minister could say that a figure of one million young unemployed is 'a bit of a distraction' - Timms

16 November 2011

Stephen TimmsStephen Timms MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Minister, commenting on Chris Grayling’s comments, said:

"Only an out of touch Tory minister could say that a figure of one million young unemployed people is 'a bit of a distraction' - and on a day when he claimed he wasn't going to try and spin the figures. Instead of trying to wish away these terrible unemployment numbers, Tory ministers should be adopting Labour's five point plan for jobs and growth, to get young people off the dole and into jobs and deal with the risk of a lost generation."
