NHS on your side

Thanks to new NHS services announced by the Labour government it’ll soon be easier to see a doctor at a time and place convenient to you.

Labour is putting the NHS on your side. We are putting the NHS at your service:

  • Making it easier for hard working families to see a Doctor at a time convenient to them - a new deal with GPs means that most GP practices will be open at times more suited to people at work, an extra three hours on average each week, either on a Saturday morning or more weekday evenings;
  • Increasing the number of Doctor’s surgeries, especially where there are too few;
  • Introducing 152 new state of the art health centres in every town and city, open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm, bringing better healthcare closer to home; and
  • Extending the role of pharmacies to able to prescribe for and deal with minor ailments on the NHS, as well as promoting good health, supporting those with long-term conditions and preventing illnesses through additional screening and advice.

Alan Johnson, Labour's Health Secretary, said:

“Labour's priority is to put the NHS on your side and at your service. We will continue the momentum towards more a personalised health service focussed on prevention as much as treatment and cure. That means improving access to GPs, who are the first point of contact for most people who use the NHS, and putting a wider range of services into health centres and bringing specialist healthcare closer to communities. By making health services available in more locations with extended opening times we will give greater access to our world class primary care services".

Who writes this stuff? What thought is put into it? "Introducing 152 new state of the art health centres in every town and city".... EVERY town and city! Are there only 152 towns and cities in the UK?? Or should I read it the other way... every town will have 152 new health centres??? It's rubbish, and about as much thought has gone into this as goes into Labour policy-making. No wonder no one believes it any more and no wonder we lost just about everything last Thursday. Wake up!!!!!
