Mary Creagh MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, responding to today’s announcement on guidance for voluntary social tariff schemes by water companies, said:
"This announcement will do little to help families hit by a recession made in Downing Street. The Government should set national standards for water social tariffs to help the millions facing higher water bills, and falling household income. Instead, out of touch Ministers have washed their hands of any responsibility by leaving water companies to decide whether to reduce bills."
