MP for WalthamstowAbout Stella CreasyGrowing up I watched the Tories destroy the lives of people around me, pushing families into debt and crushing our public services. Politics is very different now. Whether through the minimum wage, Sure Start or cancelling debt for developing nations I know Government can be a force for good. I have the experience and the passion to make things happen for Labour and for Walthamstow.
I've been working for Labour alongside local activists and community campaign groups for many years as an active member of our Walthamstow constituency, whether as a branch secretary, GC delegate, LGC delegate or a campaign organiser. As a councillor I was the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Chief Whip during my time serving the people of Waltham Forest. I'm part of our wider movement too as a member of Unite, the Fabians, SERA and the Labour Women's Network. I have been endorsed as a parliamentary candidate for the Co-op Party. As a party activist, Walthamstow resident of many years and a community campaigner I know this constituency and the local issues we face - from the concerns parents have about our schools, the persistence of poverty in Higham Hill, Priory Court and Attlee Terrace and the redevelopment of our town centre, I see the challenges Labour must address in my local area. I am now the Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns at The Scout Association who are based near Walthamstow in Gilwell Park. I am proud to work for an organisation which helps nearly half a million young people to develop the skills and confidence they need in life to thrive. |
