About Lisa Nandy

Lisa Nandy was elected as the Member of Parliament for Wigan in May 2010.


Lisa graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 and went on to work as Parliamentary Researcher for Neil Gerrard MP. From 2003-2005 she worked in the voluntary sector as a researcher for the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint, and later spent five years as a Senior Policy Adviser at The Children’s Society.


Prior to May Lisa was a Labour councillor in Hammersmith and Fulham, a school governor at a local primary school and served on the board of the Lyric Hammersmith. She was born and brought up in the North West of England and has a masters degree from the University of London which she studied as a mature student.


Lisa is Parliamentary Private Secretary to Tessa Jowell, Olympics Shadow Cabinet Minister.  She is also a member of the Education Select Committee and lists her political interests as poverty, housing, low pay and children.
