Heidi Alexander was selected as Lewisham East’s Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate in October 2009. Heidi, 34, is a local Councillor and has been Lewisham’s full-time Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration since 2006.

 

As Chair of London’s leading economic development company, Greater London Enterprise (2007-9), Heidi has led work to support small and medium sized businesses in the capital. She has also played a key role in the rebuild of Lewisham’s Secondary Schools as a director on Lewisham’s Local Education Partnership.

 

Prior to this, Heidi was a campaign manager for Clothes Aid and set up a national initiative to tackle illegitimate charity clothing collections. She started her career working in Parliament for Joan Ruddock MP, now Minister for Energy and Climate Change.

 

Heidi has lived in the constituency of Lewisham East for the last 8 years with her partner Martin, a public sector lawyer. She went to Churchfields Comprehensive School in Swindon and has a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Change from the University of Durham.
