Before being elected to represent Ochil & South Perthshire in 2005, Gordon worked in the construction industry for 31 years, firstly with Costain Construction then as Chief Buyer for Barratt.

By 1986 he formed his own business, Cartmore Building Supply Co Ltd, which is based in Lochgelly, Fife.

Gordon’s main political interests include the Environment, Europe, the Economy and Foreign Affairs.

At Parliament, Gordon has numerous roles as the Secretary to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Coeliac Disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Publishing, Chair of the PLP Foreign Affairs Departmental Committee and Secretary to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Land Maintenance.

Gordon lives in Alva with his wife Lynda and has two children, Victoria and Dominic. He is also a keen musician/songwriter and sports fan following football and motor sports especially Formula 1 and Rallying.
