Caroline Flint MP, Labour's Shadow Energy and Climate Secretary, commenting on a leaked letter from the Foreign Secretary William Hague warning that the Government must do more to stop the UK falling behind international rivals on the green economy, said:
"This weekend William Hague told businesses to work harder, but now even he admits that the Government isn't doing enough to support British green businesses. Under Labour Britain was open for green business. Since this Government came to power we have fallen from third in the world for investment in clean energy to seventh, the solar industry has been decimated, and thanks to the recession made in Downing Street, green jobs are being exported overseas. Ministers must end the dithering, stop shifting the goalposts and get behind the industries of the future."
