Labour will set out a vision of a fairer Britain at its annual conference next week
Labour Party members and delegates are flooding into Manchester today ahead of the party's annual conference, which opens on Saturday 20 September and is again set to be the largest in Western Europe and bring over £15 million into the region.
Over the coming week Gordon Brown MP, Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party, will set out policies to overcome the global challenges facing Britain and his vision for our country's future: fair rules, fair chances, a fair say for everyone.
Hazel Blears, Labour's Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and local MP for Salford, welcomed delegates to Manchester:
"It's great to be coming back to Manchester for conference this year, and I'm not just saying it because I'm from Salford myself. In the last ten years Manchester has become an incredibly vibrant, successful city and it's one of the friendliest places there is.
"As members of the Labour family meet this week, we know that these are difficult times for people. There are real global economic problems, but with Gordon Brown steering the country and Labour's values and policies of fairness we can win the fight for Britain's future."
