Leveson report - Back Labour's Press Freedom and Trust Bill

The Labour Party supports the recommendations of the Leveson Report and believes they should be implemented swiftly.

Labour's Press Freedom and Trust Bill will support a strong and free press while providing a strong framework for protecting victims of press abuse.  

The Bill provides a legal backing for a new system of independent self-regulation by the press, while providing robust protection for press freedom. It does not aim to introduce direct regulation of the press.
