This week will see a number of key Labour Government initiatives coming into force across the country, improving health, policing and transport.

Measures coming into force this week mean that every community will see:

• All patients having the right to choose which hospital or treatment centre they are treated in;
• Up to 11 million people aged 60 or over and eligibly disabled people will have free off-peak bus travel anywhere in the UK;
• A neighbourhood policing team in every single community;
• The Labour Government’s greener homes initiative offering a home health check on energy and other green options;
• A new unified border force operational, keeping our shores safe.

Constantly improving public services and meeting people’s needs in increasingly complex lives is one of the key drivers for this Labour Government.

The Prime Minister believes this week’s key changes mark the continuation of this Government’s public service reform as Labour looks to increase the right to choose; personal budgets for services; the replacement of weak and failing services; and redress for local people focusing on customer satisfaction.
