‘Online mums’ discussion a real success’ says Secretary of State after Mumsnet webchat.
Alan Johnson MP, Labour’s Health Secretary, on the campaign trail for the May 1st elections today took part in a live webchat on the website Mumsnet.
Alan made the trip to North London to answer a range of questions from Mumsnet users, on topics ranging from breastfeeding and hospital cleanliness to nurses’ pay and miscarriages. He spent over an hour with Justine and Carrie, the founders of Mumsnet, discussing with them and the website users what Labour was doing to improve the NHS.
After the webchat Alan said:
“It was a really impressive discussion, the site serves a vibrant online community where people can share concerns and solutions about children’s issues, the NHS and healthcare in general.
“It was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to communicate.”
Carrie Longton, one of the Mumsnet founders, said:
“We were delighted to welcome Alan Johnson for a live webchat with Mumsnet today. It's vital that the Government consults with parents on the important issues of the day like health and we really hope now that they will act on the recommendations that Mumsnetters are making."
