Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, speaking after confirmation that CPI has reached a record 5.2%, said:
“The latest inflation figure shows what a dramatic effect the double digit increases in gas and electricity are having on the cost of living. How much more evidence does the Tory-led Government need that they have to get tough about soaring energy prices?
“If the Government don’t understand how energy prices are hurting, they are seriously out of touch.”
