Health policy commission
Introduction:
The Health policy commission develops Labour’s policy direction and thinking in health. It considers current issues, ranging from investment in and reform of the National Health Service, to methods to improve the patient’s experience by driving waiting times down and the quality of service up and while increasing the number of staff – nurses, doctors and others – who work in the NHS. The policy commission has two main roles. As part of the policy development process, the commission engages with local Labour parties, Labour’s affiliates and local communities in producing consultation and policy documents. The other main role is to discuss current issues, the work of government, and submissions from the public; and to feed back to party members and affiliates.
