Jim Murphy MP, Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary, responding to the Government’s inability to give a clear answer to how much their carrier u-turn has cost, is challenging Philip Hammond to publish the full costs.

Jim Murphy MP said:
 
“The Government needs to come clean over cost. This is an embarrassing shambles.
 
“Philip Hammond has had three positions in three hours. It is essential he now publishes the total costs of this u-turn.
 
“Millions have been wasted at a time of painful defence cuts and the country is rapidly losing confidence in the Government on defence.”
