Government failing to respond to flood risk – Mary Creagh

11 July 2012

Mary CreaghMary Creagh MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, responding to the publication of the Climate Change Committee report on flood risk, commented:

“The Government’s climate change risk assessment sets out that flooding is one of the biggest challenges facing the country, yet the Draft Water Bill is silent on the issue. The Tory-led Government has cut flood defence investment by 30% and are failing to ensure that flood insurance remains available to all. The recent floods are a big wake up call to the Government to act now."
