Harriet Harman MP, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, today visiting Gloucester to support Labour's candidates for the local election campaign, met with staff and parents at the Meadows Nursery to discuss the Government's plans to cut the number of staff per child in nurseries.
Harriet Harman MP, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, said:
“The Government’s plans will not cut childcare costs for parents but they will undermine the quality of childcare.
“I'm backing the Mumsnet and Netmums campaign which is demanding the Government drops these plans.”
Sharon Hodgson MP, Labour’s Shadow Children and Families Minister, added:
“Ministers are refusing to listen to the views of parents, professionals and even their own experts on ratios. Labour have listened and we will continue to do everything we can to block these ridiculous changes in Parliament.”
