Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, responding to David Cameron's comments at the Clean Energy Ministerial, said:
"No amount of hot air from David Cameron can disguise this Government’s failure to get behind British green businesses and jobs. The UK should be a world leader in the transition to a low-carbon economy, but since this Government came to power, investment in clean energy has fallen, meaning that jobs and growth that should be coming to this country are now going overseas.
"With the British economy plunged back into recession because of this Government’s failing economic policies, the Clean Energy Ministerial, with businesses and investors flying in from all over the world, was the perfect opportunity to bring new jobs and industries to the UK. The fact that David Cameron can’t even be bothered to make a proper speech shows that the Government has missed yet another open goal."
