Harriet Harman MP, Labour's Shadow Deputy Prime Minister, said in response to Nick Clegg's admission at questions in the House of Commons today that "we do need to take more action" on youth unemployment and that "it would be a real dereliction of duty if we did not do more":
"With youth unemployment at record levels, even the Deputy Prime Minister admits that the Government needs to do more to tackle this urgent problem. But Nick Clegg is not a brake on this out of touch Tory-led Government, he's propping it up - scrapping Labour's Future Jobs Fund and abandoning our young people when they need the most help.
"If Nick Clegg really wanted to do more to help young people and avoid another lost generation, he would support Labour's five point plan for jobs and growth and repeat the bank bonus tax to help get 100,000 young people back to work."
