Chuka Umunna MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Minister, responding to reports that Steve Hilton wants to abolish maternity leave and the Tory-led Government’s announcement this morning to boost the economy by cutting 'red tape', said:
"No wonder the economy has only grown by 0.2 per cent in the last nine months. George Osborne has no plan for growth, Vince Cable thinks growth is about letting kids buy Christmas crackers, and Steve Hilton thinks it's about abolishing maternity leave and consumer rights. This is a Government with no serious ideas for getting the economy growing again."
