Debates on Government e-Petitions report is a humiliating report for the Government - Angela Eagle

19 January 2012

Angela EagleAngela Eagle MP, Labour’s Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, commenting on the Procedure Committee’s report into e-petitions, said:

“This is a humiliating report for the Government – even its own MPs don’t believe its spin about e-petitions. What is needed is real modernisation of the Parliamentary process.

“As the Government controlled committee noted, the Government’s incompetent handling of the legislative programme has meant the House of Commons has been twiddling its thumbs. Rather than attempting to fob people off with PR initiatives that even its own MPs don’t believe, with unemployment at a 17 year high and barely any economic growth, the Government needs to get a grip.”
