Gregg McClymont MP, Labour’s Shadow Pensions Minister, commenting on the Government’s decision to set the automatic enrolment earnings trigger for 2013/14 at £9,440:
“Ministers have moved the goalposts on workplace pensions once again – and that means hundreds of thousands more will women miss out.
“Labour designed auto-enrolment to help lower income workers save for the future, but this Government have vandalised the scheme leaving more than a million out in the cold.
“The pension savings prospects of hundreds of thousands of low paid women are being sacrificed by the Tory-led Government. Once again low paid women are paying the price for this Government cutting corners on pensions.”
