Government's curriculum changes criticised by another Gove appointed expert - Twigg

15 June 2012

Stephen TwiggStephen Twigg MP, Labour's Shadow Education Secretary, responding to reports that two members of the Expert Panel for the National Curriculum Review in England have threatened to resign, today said:

"The Government's curriculum changes appear to be in turmoil as they are criticised by another expert appointed by the Secretary of State.

"Two of the four members of the review threatened to quit because of the Government's attitude. It is clear that independent experts feel that ministers are pursuing dogmatic pet projects not listening to evidence.

"We must not let Michael Gove's ideology get in the way of providing an effective education to our children."
