Gordon Brown speaks to the NPF
Speaking to Labour activists at the National Policy Forum Gordon Brown said -
“Our role when facing global economic challenges is to be on the side of hardworking families – on the side of the people of Britain.
When people ask us where we stand when we’re dealing with these problems – we stand for the principle we have always stood for – fairness for the hardworking people of Britain."
The PM continued - "The only agenda that matters for a Labour Party thinking about the future is the agenda of the future. "
Attacking the Conservative Party's policies, the PM said that he did not want "to wake up 24 months from now" to see education and health budgets cut, at the same time as "massive tax cuts" for the rich.
The PM concluded - "Have confidence that not only do we have the right policies, but when the time comes we will be able to persuade the British people."
