Women's Forums

Women’s forums have an important part to play in the development of your local party. Women in many ways have different political perspectives and priorities to men. Women’s forums can help to ensure that these priorities are acknowledged in the activities of local parties, and can also play an important part in communicating with women in the local community.

The aims of your women’s forum should be:

  • to encourage and support women members to play a full and active part in all the party’s activities, particularly through facilitating training, networking and mentoring, and encouraging women to run for elected office
  • to build links with women in the community, through contact with community organisations and individual women, consultation, campaigning and joint working
  • to encourage women to join the party and to ensure that new women members are welcomed
  • to ensure that women’s voices are heard in the party, through monitoring women’s involvement in activities and feeding women’s concerns to the local party and to policy makers
  • to work jointly with Labour women in neighbouring constituencies in the delivery of the above aims.
