Tonight, Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave a presentation at the world famous Royal Institution of Great Britain. The event was chaired by Labour Party candidate and former TV presenter Gloria De Piero who called it the first ever ‘flashmob for economists’.
A packed hall of economists, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators heard Gordon describe the events leading to the global economic crisis and how he and his team took decisions and action.
The evening was in an innovative format, including video clips and a ‘twitterfall’ where members of the public could ask their own questions to ‘#gbontheroad’.
Gordon Brown answered questions on national insurance, volunteering and national service, banking reform and employment, amongst others. Cabinet Ministers Lord Mandelson, Harriet Harman, David Miliband and Chancellor Alastair Darling all answered questions from the audience.
