Report on fracking reinforces what Labour have been pressing for months - Greatrex

29 June 2012

Tom GreatrexTom Greatrex MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy Minister, commenting on the report on fracking by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society, said:

"It is welcome that this report reinforces much of what Labour have been pressing for several months. Before shale gas extraction can go ahead, important conditions that have been set by this report and the Labour Party must be established, met and monitored.

"It is now time for the Government to come in from the sidelines and ensure that there is a rigorous regulatory regime in place that addresses legitimate environmental and safety concerns."
