Luciana Berger MP, Labour’s Shadow Climate Change Minister, commenting on the announcement that Ofgem has opened an investigation into three energy suppliers who have missed their energy efficiency and fuel poverty targets, said:
“While the energy giants are enjoying record profits, millions of people are struggling to heat their homes and pay their energy bills. For over two years Labour has warned that the Government and OFGEM were failing to keep tabs on whether the energy companies were doing enough to help people make their homes more energy efficient and warmer.
“The failure of these companies is unfair to both consumers and other energy companies who have met their targets on time. The offending energy companies must learn that if they fail to meet their obligations there will be a price to pay.”
