World-class education

World-class educationLabour’s investment and reform of education has seen young people achieve some of the best ever results at 11, 14, 16 and 18. Labour remains committed to unlocking all the talents of all young people.

By supporting families and young people, we can widen opportunities and ensure that each and every young person reaches their potential.

Labour’s record investment in education is given a boost by Budget 2008 which will see an extra £200 million invested over the next three years to bring forward Labour’s ambition for no school to have fewer than 30 per cent of its pupils achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths.

World class education starts in world class Children's Centres for the under 5s. Congratulatiuons on the excellent progress in bringing these on stream.(More publicity needed!) However we will only get world class EDUCATION in them when they are staffed by FULL TIME qualified early years TEACHERS, not other caring professionals.
