Creating Sustainable Communities policy commission
Introduction
The Creating Sustainable Communities policy commission is concerned with Labour’s policy and thinking on the environment and energy, local government and housing, transport, culture and sport.
It considers a wide range of current issues including tackling climate change and working towards a secure, low-carbon energy supply, and the structure and funding of local government, as well as the provision of affordable housing, creating an integrated and sustainable transport network and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The policy commission has two main roles. As part of the policy development process, the commission engages with local Labour parties, Labour’s affiliates and local communities in producing consultation and policy documents. The other main role is to discuss current issues, the work of government, and submissions from the public and to feed back to party members and affiliates. . For more information about the role of the Policy Commission, look at our pages on the Partnership in Power institutions – here.
