Becomming a councillor
What a good councillor does
Welcome to the Labour Party Local Government site

Local government makes a difference to everybody's lives. The aim of this website is to encourage the spread of knowledge about what local government does to provoke further thought and discussion; explain why we have councillors and what they do and show what makes a good council. Also to take you out around the country through the use of film so you can see and hear for yourself directly from those who do play a role in this area of life.

You may even be thinking about becoming a councillor yourself. What kind of person goes for it? What does it involve? How do I take the first step? All these questions and more are covered here

The menu on the left of this page, and the links below, indicate those sections open to all users – this will be populated further over a period of time so keep a tag on them.

There are also sections for Labour councillors and other sanctioned users. The councillors login box on the top right of this page should be completed to gain access to these areas.

Welcome to local government.
