Harriet Harman MP, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, in response to Nick Clegg’s speech today, said:
"Nick Clegg won't pull the wool over anyone's eyes on his tax cut for people earning over £150,000. Everyone knows that, having cut tax credits and increased VAT, they are now cutting tax for the richest. While families are on average £891 worse off this year compared to 2010, taking all tax and benefit changes into account.”
“He's Deputy Prime Minister in a government that's failing on the economy and unfair on tax. This is the same old Lib Dems. They cannot be trusted - they say one thing and do the opposite."
