Douglas Alexander MP, Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary, said:
"Another day, another hint, another policy. Even his own party and starting to tire of this Prime Minister's 'make it up as he goes along' approach to Europe.
"The public, and now his own party, are doubting if this Prime Minister's Europe policy amounts to anything more than a series of nods and winks.
"At this vital time we need a strategy on Europe, not just a headline for the party conference."
