People would respect David Cameron more if he put the NHS first and put this discredited Bill out of its misery - Burnham

1 February 2012

Andy BurnhamAndy Burnham MP, Labour's Shadow Health Secretary, said in response to the Royal College of Psychiatrists opposition to the Health and Social Care Bill:

“Only minutes after David Cameron claimed professional support for his Health Bill today at Prime Minister’s Questions, yet another prestigious Royal College comes out in opposition to the Government’s plans and labels them 'fundamentally flawed'.

“This damaging situation is turning into a full scale crisis. If the Government carries on digging in behind its Bill, it risks causing serious damage to the NHS and the relationships that underpin it.

“David Cameron promised to listen to the professionals and protect the NHS, but he is now in serious danger of breaching professional and public trust. People would respect him more if he put the NHS first and put this discredited Bill out of its misery.”
